A New Way to Love, Share, and Invite
March 5, 2023
Local leaders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in El Dorado County have launched a new website with a focus on inviting all to join us as we meet together and celebrate the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. The website features a modern and user-friendly design, making it easy for visitors to explore local events, activities, worship services, and news.
The new website serves as a virtual welcome center for people who are looking for a church to call home. It showcases the various groups and programs offered among the nine congregations comprising the El Dorado Stake (a geographical unit of the church), from Georgetown to Cameron Park. The site will be consistently updated with new events and activities that are open to the general public.
“As part of a global church with many online resources readily available, we’ve had to balance the local impact we can have with the charter to make sure we’re not duplicating resources the church already provides,” stated Zack Funk, website director. Visitors to the site will be directed to Churchofjesuschrist.org for doctrinal questions and general gospel topics. Current church members will still use Member Tools, Gospel Library, Leader and Clerk Resources, Justserve.org, and FamilySearch.org just as they have in the past.
One of the biggest opportunities with this new website is to make it easier to invite friends and neighbors to events, activities, and Sunday worship services. Each public event gets its own page with a full description of the event, a printable invitation, links for navigating to the location of the event, and easy share buttons to text, email, or post the event on your Facebook feed. Zack said, “We hope that visitors feel welcome by what they see on the site and decide to join us and get to know us better.”
The web team consists of the website director, a graphic designer, and two writers. The writers also cover events within the area that will be posted to the News page of the site. People can look back at those events and get a feel for the event, even if they weren’t able to participate. Since many of these events are annual events, it may be helpful for visitors or new members to see what happened last year as they are deciding whether to participate this year.
The church’s local leadership is excited about the new website and believes that it will reach out to more people in the area. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this website will bring to our community.
