Light the World Giving Machines
December 8, 2025 - Kiersten Bliss

Several members of the El Dorado Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints got in the spirit of giving early this holiday season by donating their time to assist with the Light the World Giving Machines. These vending machines, where people donate money and select from several charitable item(s), gave 100% of the donations to those in need (no operation or hidden fees). Five local charities were featured: Sacramento Children's Home, Jake's Journey Home, The Salvation Army, Stand Up Placer, and Sunrise Christian Food Ministry. The Giving Machines were in the Roseville Galleria Mall, just downstairs from the Food Court, from November 17-December 8, 2025.

El Dorado Stake President, Troy Bair, along with his wife, Darce Bair, were amongst the large crowd that gathered at the official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, November 21 where Santa Claus, himself, made the first donation of the season.

Other church members of the El Dorado stake, along with volunteers from all over the Sacramento region, helped run the three identical vending machines--refilling, answering questions, taking photos--and had a wonderful time sharing in the spirit of giving with the mall's many holiday patrons. Carol and John Barfuss were amongst these volunteers.
In the 21 days that the Light the World Giving Machines were in Roseville Galleria over a quarter million dollars was raised! Now THAT's the spirit of giving!
